Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office Begins Construction on $300 Million Project

In June, the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office began construction on the first phase of its $300 million recovery project. Inundated and destroyed by the waters of Hurricane Katrina, OPSO is rebuilding the entire Orleans Parish Prison complex, including administration offices, an intake and processing center, inmate housing, kitchens, warehousing, and plant operations. TMG has been integral in helping the Sheriff’s Office navigate a myriad of local regulations, and present its plan to legislative bodies, public regulatory agencies, and neighborhood organizations. TMG has also provided engineering design for access road layout for the project, all while deciphering complicated land ownership issues going back 200 years. The second phase of development is slated to commence in early 2011, and the entire project will be completed by late 2013.
